#86109 - Initial Misconception Responding to: ???'s previous message |

I love this one (but can't explain the initial misconception):
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000 Now add 10. What is the total? The misconception comes from the repetition of the 1000's....ones brain logically thinks that surely the rest of the numbers add up to a total of 1000 instead of 100. It is a trick of repetitive associativity. Michael Karas |
