Hi.

DO NOT pay any attention to "typicals" in a data sheet, only max and min are of interest. If you drive your LEDs at more than than the datasheet specify as max curent you will age then real fast. A competitor did that and is not an business any more.
My LED datasheet says:
Surge forward current (tp ≤ 10)µs 1A
And for tp around 300us IF,max is about 200mA

you need more chips when you do not multiplex
If we need one 16-pin IC (595 or 573) for each 8 LEDs, then in my 8192 LED display we shall need 1024 ICs, Am I right?
