Hi,

Sorry, I was lost in the thread!
I meant using WDI of MAX691 to monitor LSB bit of 5x32 column decoder, so that if it is stopped for more than 100ms by any reason, MAX691 issues a reset to '51 thus implementing two tasks: 1) detectng...I don't know preventing or whatever software dead-locks...I mean infinite loops and 2) Saving our LEDs in case of a bug or whatever which might cause a column ON for a longer time than necessary, something like what Kai did with 4538 in here: http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=76303
