This is only valid for rather small LED currents, where the intensity of LED is still proportional to LED current, like it's true for indoor use. But if you have more than 100mA running through the LED, means in an outdoor application, saturation occurs resulting in a decrease of photon efficiency. Intensity of LED is no longer proportional to LED current. So, this human eye refering advantage can drastically decrease!
