#86298 - Vcc IS part of the signal path Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Why are these ferrite beads only placed on Vcc? Why not both on Vcc and GND? Because ground is part of signal path, Vcc is not. Actually, yes it is. Consider a CMOS circuit. When the driver outputs high, the return current is in the ground plane (specifically, in the ground plane adjacent to the signal trace -- return current follows the path of least inductance). When the driver outputs low, the return current can't come from the ground plane, as the trace and the plane are at the same potential. It must come from VCC. -a |
